The art show ‘Celebrate the Macleay’ was well attended with many guests commenting that they had a lovely time while surrounded by painted landscapes of the Macleay Valley.
Artist Latileta Alefaio said the event was very successful.
“I’m so grateful and feel honoured for all the people that came to support my work and I look forward to doing more painting in the future to encourage people to look on the positive side of life,” she said.
Lou’s Cafe Restaurant provided food for the guests while Mrs Many Lee and Mrs Jenny Fink from the Mid North Coast Youth Orchestra, musician Dan Hopkins and classical pianist Tom Mitchell entertained the crowd.
Michael Daly also recited two original poems about the Macleay Valley on the night.
Deputy Mayor Ashley Williams opened the art show with many other representatives from the community in attendance.
A painting was also raffled off with the proceeds going to Crescent Head Public School.
Complimentary local manuka honey and a blank canvas were provided to inspire guests to colour the canvas of their life and to get creative.
Door prizes were provided by Macleay Valley icons, The Slim Dusty Centre and Akubra.
Guests also had the opportunity to share what they loved about living in the Macleay Valley on a canvas board, responses were ‘the people’ and ‘where the bush meets the sea’.
