In his speech, St Paul’s principal Kevin Lewis, said the 2018 Year 12 class exemplified the college theme and motto of ‘Let Your Light Shine and Pursuing Excellence Everyday’, and congratulated every student on their achievements.
“As well as providing a strong platform for the future, St Paul’s College has more importantly taught you how to take love out into the world, and I ask you to share that joyously and generously,” Mr Lewis said.
The graduation mass in the morning was followed by the major awards and prize-giving ceremony that celebrated the achievements of the outgoing Year 12 students.
Ruby Colling and Jye Palise gave the student reflection speech the previous day at the final college assembly to farewell the Year 12 class. The students reflected on their six-year journey at the college and the different paths they had all taken.
Franchesca Thackray delivered the college dux speech, having achieved that honour during the 2017 HSC with an ATAR of 93.55. Franchesca spoke of her determination to succeed and set goals to overcome all obstacles and setbacks in her life.
“It was one of the most inspirational and humbling speeches I have ever witnessed from a young high school graduate ever,” Mr Lewis said.
“I am very proud of how the students have grown into kind and mature young women and men and I wish them every success for their future.”
