Harry Mainey, Eloise Macdonald, Harley Thackray, Jye Palise and Mariah Allan all spoke to the Argus about finally arriving at the moment that their thirteen years of schooling had been building too.
“I feel like we’ve all really grown up a lot more in the last twelve months”, Harry Mainey said. “This whole experience has provided skills we can use for life after school.”
“It's given us excellent time management skills, and the satisfaction that comes with hard work paying off.” Harley Thackray added.
All students did the same exam on the first day of the HSC last Thursday, but standard English had a different assessment then advanced English for the second day.
Speaking about the exam, advanced English student Eloise Macdonald found the essays questions to be challenging.
“It really made you think. Not knowing what the questions were beforehand was difficult, but luckily they gave us a quote to use with the exam.”
“Committing to revision really helped,” Mr Thackray, also an advanced English student said.
“The past papers helped too,” Mariah Allan added.
When asked how they felt, relief seemed to be the general consensus.
“It's like a great weight has been lifted off our shoulders,” said Jye Palise.
All the students that spoke to the Argus finished all the essay questions and with a few more weeks to come, they “can’t wait until it’s over.”
The students of St Pauls College will continue with their exams for the next few weeks along with the rest of NSW.
It's not only the students who are deserving of praise for reaching this moment but all the dedicated teachers, parents and the school communities who have supported them in their schooling journey.
HSC results will be available for students to view from Thursday, December 13.
