The quality side will be without their captain Danny Powick, who is in Sydney with his son who is competing in a PSSA cricket carnival, and bowler Matt Scott for their season debut.
However, Powick claims his side still has the ability to earn a first up victory.
“Everyone in the side is really keen to start the season after missing out on the first two weeks of competition,” Powick said.
“We have a young side but they are all talented cricketers and I believe they will get the job done.”
There have been only two games played over the opening two weeks of the competition, with rain cancelling the majority of scheduled matches.
Rovers’ opponent for this Saturday, the Magpies, were one of the teams to take the field last week.
They suffered a first up loss but Powick believes it isn’t a true representation of the quality of the side.
“They’re a great team and I think they’re one of the favourites to win it this year,” Powick told the Argus.
“They have a reasonable bowling attack, good batting and are a good side overall.”
The Magpies conceded 190 runs against Wauchope RSL and managed only 126 before they were dismissed in the 31st over of their run chase.
Rovers finished in eighth position last year but are hopeful with a couple of key acquisitions that they will be able to reach the finals of the 2018-19 season.
Meanwhile Macleay rivals Nulla will face off with the Port Macquarie Magpies, who finished the 2017-18 regular season winless, this Saturday.
