The festivities don’t stop there though, at the conclusion of the day market, a twilight market will start down at Riverside Park from 3pm to 8pm.
Ms Belinda Fowler is organising the whole event on behalf of the chamber of commerce.
Using the mantra of “handmade, homegrown products,” it is hoped that this will increase long-term trade in the area.
“These markets will hopefully stimulate economic growth in Kempsey,” Ms Fowler said.
“We’ve really upped the ante this time,”
“Smith street is gonna be buzzing.”
Both the day and night market will include live music, food and other entertainment. The twilight market will have a massive one hundred and seventy stalls on offer.
“We will have a huge amount of food available, wood fire pizza, Thai, Turkish, Sushi, BBQ, Greek and so many more,” Ms Fowler said.
“Regardless of what your tastes are, you'll find something to your liking,”
“Local fresh produce is on offer, along with loads of live entertainment, there will be a magician for the kids, stilt walkers, the Kempsey bagpipe and drummer club, it will be a fun time for the whole family,”
“It's just so exciting that the whole town will be buzzing all day.”
The twilight markets will end the day with a fireworks display over the river, but this is far from the end, Ms Fowler is confident that these markets won’t be a one-off.
“There will absolutely be another one happening in the future,”
“Kempsey is a destination; people are coming here from all over,”
“We’ve got a whole calendar of events planned for next year.”
