Glenn A Baker has become a household name in the Australian music industry, and from November 1-4 he’ll host his self-titled Glenn A Baker Music Film Festival at Majestic Cinemas Nambucca.
A long career in all aspects of the music industry has guided his selection of the six films screening, including the opening night film Bohemian Rhapsody – based on the musical geniuses of Freddie Mercury and Queen.
Majestic Cinemas CEO Kieren Dell said he was excited to be able to help bring this festival to the Mid North Coast.
“What started as a lunchtime chat a few years ago between friends is now a week-long festival for lovers of music in films,” he said.
“The film selection has been highly influenced from the more than 600 highly acclaimed album annotations, 17 books, and more than 200 publication features Glenn has penned in his career.”
The films cover all generations:
From the 1935 Marx Bros film A Night at the Opera.
To the swinging 60’s documentary of Woodstock.
Delve into 1970 for Elvis: That’s the Way It Is.
Then with a change of style and mood for the early 80s cult classic The Blues Brothers.
And the Prince creation of Purple Rain from 1984.
“I’m looking forward to visiting Nambucca to present these legendary films that have meant so much to me and to many others over many years,” Mr Baker
He will also be on hand for opening night, as well as all sessions on Friday, November 2 to introduce each film and set the musical scene for audiences, Kieren said.
Mr Dell said Glenn’s ability to take you back to a moment in music history is a wonderful insight.
“His love of all things music makes him the perfect person to guide our audiences through a magical musical experience beyond the screen,” he said.
