Bellingen Public School athletes have returned from the NSW State Athletics Carnival in Sydney covered in glory, having been named the Champion School.

Anouk Laverty, who was Junior girls multi class age champion at the North Coast Athletics Carnival, finished 1st in 100m and 200m, 2nd in long jump and 800m, 4th in discus and 6th in shot put.
Anouk is keen to represent Australia one day at the Paralympic Games.
Fern Berry finished 5th in long jump, 20th in high jump and gave strong performances in the 100m and 200m.
The junior relay team of Ava Van Dyke, Tara Martindale, Della Byrne and Elkie Walters finished 3rd.
At the North Coast Athletics Carnival, Elkie Walters not only received the Junior girls age champion but broke the record in the 100m that had stood for 22 years, running 14.32 seconds.
Ava also finished 4th in the heats for 100m and Elkie finished 5th in the semi-finals for 100m and 200m, Josh Upsal finished 26th overall in long jump, Jayme Garrett finished 5th in her heat for 800m and Charlie Carter finished 28th overall in high jump.
As a result of all these performances, Bellingen Public School received the Colgate Cup for the top performing school in NSW.
This is the first time since the cup started in 1970 that a school outside of Sydney has taken out the top honour, an amazing achievement by our Bellingen Public School athletes.
