United batted well to surpass the total at the end of the 35th over, with seven wickets remaining.
The defeat comes a week after Rovers built confidence after securing their first win of the season.
Despite posting their largest score of the season, Rovers’ struggles with the bat continued as they relied on their tail to score 53 runs.
“We were disappointed with the way the match ended up going after our good win the weekend before,” Rovers bowler Matt Scott said.
“The boys turned up really confident and eager to do well. Unfortunately it just was not our day in the long run. We were happy with our batting performance because it was the first time in the Premier League competition we have batted out our 40 overs.”
Lachlan Dowling (45) was again the standout with the bat.
“Lachlan again batted out o fhis skin and was unlucky not to on on and make 50,” Scott said. “He is thriving in the Premier League.”
Rovers took an early hit when attempting to defend their total as once of their bowlers went down with an injury.
“Harry Nemme suffered an injury after three overs and it was a big loss as he was bowling well,” Scott said.
Nemme (1/18) had picked up the only wicket at the time of his injury.
It was all downhill from there as United’s batting line up played at a high level and Rovers were unable to make consistent breakthroughs.
“They batted really well,” Scott said.
“They didn’t try and do anything silly. They just waited for the bad balls and put them away.
“At this level of cricket, you always need to take the chances that come your way and we didn’t do that well on the weekend.”
Rovers will need to bounce back, to avoid falling to one win from seven games, but the task is easier said than done as Rovers will face off with Wingham, who currently sit in second position on the ladder, in their next game.
“We have a big task this weekend against Wingham,” Scott said.
“We know it is going to be tough and we need to be on the top of our game.
“We have the benefit of playing at home so hopefully that plays into our advantage.
“I know everyone is going to be hungry to get a win this weekend.”
Rovers will face off with Wingham at Kempsey Golf Club this Saturday at 1pm.
