Rovers managed 168 runs from their first innings before they were dismissed at the end of the 41st over.
Nulla wasted little time in response, as they ended day one with a 40 run lead and are currently 3/208 at the end of the 34th over.
Nulla will have an opportunity to further extend their lead and then pursue an outright victory on the second day this Saturday.
Meanwhile South West Rocks finished 9/226 after their first innings and Stuarts Point/Eungai are currently 5/86 in response.
Patrick Cotter (52) top scored for South West Rocks as he celebrated a half century while opener Nick Paven (33) currently has the top score for SPECC.
South West Rocks have the upper hand and will be looking to pick up early wickets and wrap up at least a first innings victory.
