Hazel will turn 100 this Sunday December 9, but she celebrated early today with a surprise lunch organised by the Kempsey War Widows.
“This was a surprise for her, she’s having a party on Sunday with over 100 people coming, but she had no idea we were organising a special lunch for her today,” Barbara Birtles from the Kempsey War Widows said.
“She was very surprised when she walked in.”
The group of around 20 ladies enjoyed lunch together at Lou’s Cafe Restaurant celebrating Hazel and their friendship.
“Hazel will be receiving certificates from The Queen, she’s seen them but they haven’t arrived yet.”
Hazel was gifted with a framed photo of the Kempsey War Widows for her birthday and will get a special gift this Friday when her daughter, who lives in America, will arrive back home to celebrate her mother’s special milestone birthday.
