The councillors unanimously resolved to facilitate a further meeting between specialist consultants, The Airport Group, and Kempsey Airport Reference Group (KARG) to ensure the representative group is more comfortable with the draft report before it goes on public exhibition.
As part of the resolution, when the report does go on public exhibition it will be for 12 weeks and workshops will be held for councillors and the community during that time to address any questions about the documents.
Councillors publicly thanked the members of KARG for their efforts in engaging with council and its consultants about the future use of the airport and the development of the report.
In closing the meeting, the Mayor thanked the community for the continued interest in the issue and acknowledged the successful outcome of the meeting.
“When we work together, we do get good results and I’d like to formally acknowledge the efforts of KARG for being part of that process.
“Councillors demonstrated today that working together will help us find the right balance for the future strategic direction of the Airport,” Mayor Campbell said.
