On the first day of December and the first day of summer the weather was not the only hot thing on the day with all the three winners on the day having very good scores. The Members and visitors from Frederickton, Taree and Grange Golf clubs were all playing in the 2018 Kempsey Vets sponsored 18 hole Single Stroke event for the Monthly Medals in each grade.

With a field of 69 players taking part the course was in the very best condition for the event thanks to all the volunteers who were on the course during the week preparing for the event.
Taking out the ‘A’ grade medal with a net 67 was Peter Hudson who had just moved back into the top grade after spending time in the ‘B’ grade. Also with a net 67 the ‘B’ grade winner was Jason Davis who is a new member of our club.
With a net 70 Shooter McGavin Campbell was the ‘C’ grade winner. All 3 winners of the medals will now play off for the gold in November 2019.
The ‘A’ grade runner up on the day was Grahame Stinson from the Grange Golf Club with a net 68, while Timothy Gregson with a net 67 was the ‘B’ grade runner up. Max Gleeson was declared the ‘C’ grade runner up player on the day.
Grahame Stinson who plays of a Scratch handicap played very good on the day and had a round of 68 (4-under par) to win the gross event in the top grade, Gregson was the ‘B’ grade winner with 83 while Campbell won the ‘C’ grade with 94.
In the ball competition on the day players with a net 73 on a count back got a ball and they can be collected from the pro shop at the club anytime along with any unclaimed vouchers from the event.
At the 3rd hole Peter Callaghan claimed the closest ntp on the day and he will collect his cartoon from Celebrations who sponsored this ntp on first Saturday of the month. Other winners at the 3rd hole on Saturday were Peter Hudson ‘A’, Peter Herivel ‘C’. At the 8th hole the winners were Ashley Elford ‘A’, Steve Bates ‘B’, Richard Campbell ‘C’.
The 2018 Macleay Valley Travel Open Day will be held tomorrow at the Kempsey Golf Club with Members and visitors hitting off from 7am in the 18 hole Medley Single Stableford event.
All intending players can book in now at the club or go online to book in for this special day. Bryn from MVT will be supplying a good number of prizes for the day so please book in early.
Tomorrow will see the week two team of Chris Hudson and Robert Johnston on the scoreboard roster tomorrow.
Don’t forget the Thursday Open event is held each week with players hitting off at 7am. The Single Stableford event is a walk up start for all Members and visitors in the area.
