Last year the Grandparent Ball was a successful event and the main feedback the preschool got from the parents, caregivers and families was that they wanted it to become an annual event because they loved the idea of showing appreciation and respect to our grandparents and elders.
With the support from families, community and staff they were successful to raise all the money needed to cover the cost to run the Grandparent Ball for a second year.
The atmosphere was beautiful and everybody was astounded by the decor of the event.
Special speakers on the night were Shanny Moran (Nominated Supervisor), Margaret Smith (Centre Manager), Megan McKay (Director), Rebecca Beecham (Board Member).
The message was that grandparents play an important role in improving and strengthening families and communities. Their wisdom and experience make them an invaluable asset to our society.
The Grandparent Debutant Ball is an opportunity for the preschool and community to thank them for their immense contributions to families and the wider community.
The event is to celebrate and recognise the diversity of grandparents relationships across age groups, aboriginal cultural background and geographical locations.
Most of all it is a day to celebrate great people for all they have done.
Centre Manager Margaret Smith encourages parents to join us at the Grandparent Debutant Ball next year to enjoy this happy celebration with the Scribbly Gum Dalai Preschool family.
