Dance For Cancer is a gala fundraising event for Cancer Council NSW and requires the participants to fundraise during the 12 weeks leading up to the the event. The funds then go towards supporting and helping locals who are affected by cancer.
As well as fundraising, the local stars will also be put through grueling dance routines and costume designs, with the help of local dance teachers Maureen Partridge from Garvey School of Dance, Danae Cantwell from Danae Cantwell School of Dance, Jimeoin Stirling-Kelly and Neil Monckton.
Community Relations Coordinator from Coffs Coast Cancer Council, Brittany Raven, said the Cancer Council depends on events like this to support locals.
“We really rely on events like this to help local people with cancer. It will go towards supporting families affected by cancer,” she said.
“We’re hoping to raise $40,000 during the 12 weeks. Any amount of money will greatly help, but this would be an amazing amount if we achieve it.”
The big night is set for Saturday March 30 at the Kempsey Macleay RSL Club. Tickets will go on sale exclusively for the first week for the stars starting today and will be opened up to the general public next week.
“It’s going to be a great night and journey. Thank you to the RSL Club for allowing us to hold the event here, to the dance schools who are donating their time and to the stars who are also donating their time and having a go,” Ms Raven said.
“You’re all so passionate, I can’t wait to go on this journey with you all.”
