Thousands of books have been donated to the sale with a huge selection of titles to delight all tastes.
Coordinator of the Book Sale, Mick Eller, said it was the biggest opening day the Rotary Club of Kempsey has had seen since the sales began several years ago.
“Following last year’s success, we have retained the Book Sale date in January to take advantage of the availability of the Kempsey High School Hall during the school holidays,” Mr Eller said.
“The community has supported the Book Sale very strongly this year with huge donations of books, CDs and records.
“Tables are brim-full of fiction titles and tables around the walls of the hall are overflowing with non-fiction items.”

Mr Eller said there is a particularly large number of children’s books too at the sale.
“We’re selling the books for $10 per bag, so as well as being a great fundraiser for local charities, people are getting some bargains.”
The Rotary Club is still seeking volunteers to help in the school hall during the sale and Mr Eller can be contacted on 0467 711-495 with any offers of help.
The Book Sale runs from 9am to 3pm on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays until January 18 at the Kempsey High School Hall – so you will need to get your skates on to grab some treasure for your entertainment.
