Gary S. Darke has recently been crowned the 2018 bowler of the year defeating seven other finalists in a one-sided victory.

For his efforts, Gary was rewarded with a trophy and some prize money presented by the owners of Galactic Tenpin, who sponsored the whole event. The seven finalists were Gary S. Darke, James Roods, Nadine Secomb, Damien Charry, Terry Frost, Martin Vandenberg, George Ackerley, Elissa Schmitzer, Pacer Bowler.
They all played in six games with their respective handicap to determine the winner. Gary S. Darke led from the first game Bowling a 231 scratch (267 Handicap game)
Over the course of the six games, Gary stayed in the lead and ended up finishing undefeated.
- 1st Game: Gary S. Darke led by 45 pins.
- 2nd Game: Gary S. Darke led by 81 pins.
- 3rd Game: Gary S. Darke led by 71 pins.
- 4th Game: Gary S. Darke led by 66 pins.
- 5th Game: Gary S. Darke led by 142 pins.
- 6th Game: Gary S. Darke won by 146 pins.
During the competition, a few of the finalists had games where the scores exceeded 200, Gary S Darke had three: 231, 216, 257. James Roods had two 206, 201. Martin Vandenberg had one 201, and Damien Charry also had one 215. Gary S. Darke had a 203 scratch average for the 6 Games.
