The club dates back more than 50 years and has seen many renovations since it was opened in 1961, most recently a full refurbishment of the clubhouse in March of last year.
“At this point, the car park will be the last stage of the refurbishment we started in March 2018,” Secretary Manager Kerr Black said.
“The new car park will provide 44 spaces and allow our members and guests closer parking to the clubhouse.”
The decision to remove the natural green was not an easy one; however, Mr Black believes it is the right one moving forward.
“The green was not being utilised, it was used in maybe two tournaments a year, and the rest of the time it was idle, the last time it was used was in September of last year,” he said.
“Our primary goal was to make it safer and more convenient for our patrons to park, this new car park is in front of the club and provides easier access. The top car park is now going to be disabled only because it is adjacent to the ramp.”
Previously there have been several additions, in 1977 there were extensions to the clubhouse, in 1982 the third green was constructed. While 1998 saw a new bar installed and in 2006/7 there were extensions to the sports area, decking and two fresh carpet greens were installed.
If all goes to plan, completion of the newest upgrade to the club is expected at the end of the February, with potentially more renovations to follow.
“At this stage, it will be discussed with the board in 6 to 12 months,” Mr Black said.
