The festival offers over 40 opportunities for older people to participate in the arts through exhibitions, performances, dance, workshops, discussion groups, networking and sharing of experiences and information.
What’s On – Kempsey
The Art of Ageing Exhibition, Nulla Nulla Gallery, Slim Dusty Centre, South Kempsey. This photographic exhibition celebrates the value, experience and contribution older people bring, and challenges out-dated perceptions of ageing. The exhibition comprises of 30 images taken by five photographers from regional NSW. Each photograph is accompanied by a short story highlighting the subject’s experiences on ageing. February 14 – Library Lovers’ Day. Kempsey Library, West Kempsey. Come and visit the library and get a ‘book crush’! Everyone has their favourite book – share your passion with other library users on Library Lovers’ Day! 10am to 5pm. FREE. Contact: Kempsey Library 6566-3210.
February 14 – Seniors’ Karaoke. Kempsey Macleay RSL. 6pm. Sing to your heart’s desire and be crowned Karaoke King or Queen! Every Thursday night, is Karaoke Night at the Kempsey Macleay RSL. It’s a great night out with friends and family. FREE. Contact: RSL 6560-1111.
February 15 – Line Dancing and Morning Tea. Slim Dusty Centre. 10am. Get your boot scootin’ on and join in some fun line dancing at the Slim Dusty Centre. Line dancing is an easy, fun and social activity. Cost of $10 includes morning tea. Contact 6562-6533.
February 16 – Seniors High Tea Boogie, Oddfellows Hall, West Kempsey. 2pm. Wednesday Morning Group is a collective of volunteers who love to dress up and sing and dance to raise people’s spirits. Come along and watch the fun, and you never know, you might just want to join this group of active fun lovers. Only $5 entry. Contact Ian: 0403 074-525.
February 18 – Ukulele and Sing-a-long, Slim Dusty Centre. 10am. Join the ukulele craze and come sing-along to your favourite tunes at the Slim Dusty Centre. Cost: $10 includes morning tea. Contact 6562-6533.
February 21 – Art and Tie-dyeing. Community Gateway, Kempsey. Expand your creativity with this free tie-dying and art workshop at Community Gateway. Have fun creating a unique item - no experience necessary but wear clothes that can get messy. Community Gateway, cnr Forth and Yaelwood streets, Kempsey. Two sessions; 10am-12pm and 2pm-4pm. February 21 – Seniors’ Karaoke. Kempsey Macleay RSL. 6pm.

February 22 – Storytime with Nan and Pop. Kempsey Library, West Kempsey. 10.30am. Celebrating the Seniors Festival, Kempsey Shire Library invites grandparents to come along to enjoy our preschool storytime. Stuarts Point
February 18 – Stuarts Point Mini Seniors Festival. Stuarts Point Hall. 10.30am. Start your morning with some hand drumming with facilitator Beris Derwent. Enjoy a special Indonesian dance demonstration by Suara Indonesia Dance.
Stuarts Point/Eungai CWA group will showcase their crafts and cater morning tea for the event. Local aged care providers and services will also be sharing relevant seniors’ information. FREE at Stuarts Point Hall. Contact: 6566-3229.
