These people who claim to love their dogs so much are making them race around a track in 35 degree heat (on Australia Day), just to try to make a quick dollar.
I doubt that the ladies pictured will be running around in the heat (that afternoon).
This letter is response to Argus' article: Kempsey Greyhound club needs locals support
I hope that the people of Kempsey have better things to do with their time and money than this on Australia Day.
It has recently been found that per capita, Australians are the biggest losers on gambling in the world.
The greyhound racing industry exists solely for the purpose of betting and according to the Productivity Commission, produces no net gain to the economy.
There are good reasons why the dog racing industry is struggling, despite the tens of millions of taxpayers dollars being poured into it by the state government.
It should have been banned.
