Beating out 212 stores nationwide, Pharmacist and owner of the Kempsey store Greg Hollier was "overjoyed" that his store and staff were being recognised for their work.
"I'm humbled by the award, and thankful for my team and customers, we were up against some excellent stores," he said.
"It's not a popular vote, we were judged based on a number of factors including community engagement, professional services and mystery shopper reports."
For their efforts, the Amcal Max Pharmacy received a trophy, a gift card and of course bragging rights.
"The gift card was nice, and the award looks great, it was more about the honour for us though. Kempsey is a good town for customer service, we have loyal customers, and we are truly thankful for them," Mr Hollier said.
The ceremony took place early March at the Star on the Gold Coast, and to enter required a win in the state awards which were held late last year.

"At the NSW Amcal Conference late last year we took out two, the state Amcal Pharmacy of the year and state Professional Services Pharmacy of the year. That put us in the running to win the national award for both," Mr Hollier said
"This national award is definitely the biggest I have ever won, in my professional career and as a business owner."
For the next 12 months, the Kempsey store will be able to call themselves the best Amcal Pharmacy in Australia and have the trophy to prove it.
"Its a bit like winning the NRL grand final, we have the title for 12 months, and then there will be a new winner announced," Mr Hollier said.
"I hope we can win again, we will give it a red hot go next year and definitely put our name down again, regardless we will still be doing our jobs, and providing the exemplary service that won us the awards in the first place.
"It's great for us and the town, Kempsey has gained some really positive national attention."
