The Mustangs will battle the Port City Breakers in the pre-season final, after they defeated the Port Macquarie Sharks 12-0 in a shortened match last Saturday.
The Mustangs were strong in attack and defence against the defending premiers and coach Russell Lardner is hoping for a similar performance to prove the team can be consistent.
"We want to get the win to send a message to the rest of the competition that we mean business this year," Lardner said.
"But more importantly I want to see us implement what we have been working on at training."
The Mustangs will make two changes to the side that defeated the Sharks last Saturday. An injury has forced one change while Lardner has also chose to include Under-18s player Miles Monta in the side.
"We want to give the young fella a run and see what he's made of," Lardner said.
"Miles has been great at training and is in the North Coast Bulldogs Under-18s side so he has plenty of talent."
The Breakers qualified for the final with a comfortable 32-14 win over Wauchope last weekend.
First grade kicks off at 4.15pm at Lank Bain Sports Complex.
