Kempsey Community Suicide Prevention Project Co-ordinator, Melissa Robinson, is leading this important community suicide prevention project and will establish community working groups to deliver the seven key actions identified within the Plan.
I would like to thank everyone who has been involved – your hard work and dedication to the community is so honourable. Councillors and Council staff look forward to working with you and assisting in the successful delivery of the Action Plan.
Tourism symposium
I am delighted to announce that South West Rocks will be the venue for the 2019 North Coast Tourism Symposium and Regional Tourism Awards on 1 August.
The value of tourism to our area should not be underestimated – every minute of every day, visitors spend over $7,000 in the North Coast region. That is a staggering amount of money and our mission is to ensure the Macleay Valley is getting our share by attracting visitors and retaining them. Statistics show that if visitors enjoy their stay, they will either lengthen their visit or return.
The Tourism Symposium offers an exciting professional development opportunity for businesses to network with industry peers and learn new ideas on tourism. Captivating speakers will share their expertise, while Destination North Coast will provide updates on its activities.
The North Coast Regional Tourism Awards will also be held in conjunction with the symposium, providing an opportunity to celebrate local tourism success. I encourage Macleay Valley tourist operators to enter the awards and be recognised for your hard work.
