Rovers finished the Premier League season with a convincing victory over the defending champions Macquarie but it was too little, too late as the side fell one competition point short of a finals berth.

Rovers knew they weren't able to move into the top four when they entered the final round of the regular season, but bowler Matt Scott said the side was left with an uneasy feeling after discovering it was only one point that ended their season.
"We are gutted to miss out on the finals by a point," Scott told the Argus.
"We look back at a few games that we should have won and we could possibly have finished in second or third.
"That is just the way sport goes though."
While it was inevitable Rovers' season was coming to an end, the side still produced an impressive performance in the final round.
Rovers scored 142 runs as they completed a successful run chase to surpass Macquarie's score of 138.
Openers Tim Smith (26) and Jarrod Prosper (56) started the run chase with class before Jackson Korn (34), Lachlan Dowling (4) and Mitch Korn (7) combined to earn the victory with 18 overs remaining.
While the batsmen wasted little time in surpassing Macquarie's total, it was Rovers' bowling and fielding which did the majority of the damage.
Wicketkeeper Mitch Korn took five catches and Lachlan Dowling and Jye Woodger both got direct hit run outs.
Lachlan Munday (1/32) made his debut for Premier League and celebrated with a wicket while Harry Nemme (3/27) and Scott (2/19) were the pick of the bowlers.
Despite the disappointment of missing the finals, Scott claims it was a successful season for Rovers and states there is plenty to build on for 2018-19.
"The young fellas really stepped up and proved themselves this year and some of the older blokes found some good form this season," Scott said.
"We will all be better off for it next season. We just need to be more consistent and start the year strong because we have struggled to win games early in the last two seasons."
Rovers lost five out of their first six games before they finished the season winning seven of their next nine games.
