The Group Three Rugby League season is only two sleeps away and the Macleay Valley Mustangs will start the competition on the road against the Old Bar Pirates.
The Mustangs head into the match with a breath of fresh air, as they have built an entirely new squad for the 2019 season.
Prop Adam McMurray is set to make his return for the Mustangs and he will partner former Queensland Cup player Isiah Barker in the front row as newly appointed captain Richie Roberts switches to lock.
The backs have also been bolstered, as the dangerous halves paring of Tyreece Sines and Stephan Blair has a luxury of attacking weapons to find in the back line.
Speedsters Conrad Lardner, Dylan Adams and Nate Walsh will line up at fullback, centre and wing, respectively, and offer plenty of options out wide.
While the Mustangs have plenty of talent on paper, coach Russell Lardner is focusing on making sure the side follows the game plan.
"Over the years, the Mustangs have been known for playing backyard footy and they have had mix results because of it," Lardner told the Argus.
"I want to see the side stick to the structure, remain in our corridors and do our job.
"That's the best way for us to be competitive."
Lardner expects to face a talented and youthful Pirates side but admits he hasn't given the opponents much thought.
"We aren't worrying about them, we need to focus on our own job," he said.
Mustangs' first grade match kicks off at 3pm.
