The Melville High School student recently competed in seven events at the NSW Combined High Schools Swimming Championships held at the Sydney Olympic Aquatic Centre.
Shae-ala earned impressive results as she finished in the top 20 in four events.
The 14-year-old achieved 17th in the 400m individual medley, 18th in the 200m and 400m freestyle and 19th in the 100m breaststroke.
On her way to the state carnival, Shae-ala was crowned Under-15 age champion at school and at the Zone carnival.
Shae-ala also picked up a second in the 200m backstroke, third in the 100m backstroke and third for the 200m individual medley at the Swimming North Coast Long Course Area Championships.
Shae-ala's dedication to swimming is impressive as she trains between 8-10 times a week for up to two hours.
For her selection as Sportsperson of the Month, Shae-ala received a $100 voucher for the RSL's restaurant.

A sportsperson of the year will be decided upon in January 2020 with an additional voucher of $500 for the restaurant awarded to the winner.
A panel of judges from the Macleay Argus will determine the monthly and year winners of the award.
