The recent running of the showcase Triathlon of the area saw the 30th presentation of the event, where multi finisher legends were honoured by their achievement, many completing 10 and 20 events and more, with two completing all 30 events, David Sewell from Taree and Steel Beveridge from Emerald Beach.

Locally though, we have volunteers that have volunteered both at the Triathlon and Running Festival, dedicating their time and raising money for charity at the same time.
One such volunteer is local legend Lisa Perkins a South West Rocks Massage Therapist, who has organised masseurs as well as family and friends to help share her great work massaging the finishers at the end of their race.
For a voluntary gold coin donation or greater, athletes have been lined up to receive this relieving experience that only a post race massage offers.
The February Triathlon raises money for Ovarian Cancer Research while the June Running Festival raises funds for the Fred Hollows Foundation, which over the past 25 years or more has raised thousands of dollars for these worthwhile charities.
Lisa was there from the start and it was her idea to raise funds for charity in exchange for a massage, a good deal for all and much appreciated.
Lisa has always been a community minded person and unselfishly given her time along with many local masseurs to give this service and raise funds for charity, she will be retiring from these events this year, and will pass on her example to our new and some not so new masseurs.
Congratulations Lisa.
