The Kempsey Lifeline Shop celebrated with a surprise birthday party for Betty, which included sponge cake, balloons and sandwiches.
Shop Manager Jill Drayton organised for volunteers, head office Business Manager Kurt Russell and son Kym to attend.
Betty has been volunteering with the Kempsey Lifeline Shop for twenty years, since 1999.
Betty was born in Kempsey and has two children, Janelle and Kym and six grandchildren.
Janelle went on to university and Kym went to technical college.
Betty was pleasantly surprised when Kym attended her Lifeline party.
During her working life in Kempsey, Betty worked at both Savages and Fossey's Department stores.
Her husband, who was the local milkman, passed away at the age of 39, leaving Betty as a single mother of the two children.
Betty took up employment as the local school canteen manager, feeling like this would be better for her children when school holidays came around.
Betty has also volunteered at meals on wheels, played golf for many years.
Happy Birthday Betty.
