The Dairy Cattle Judging kicked off this morning with local students getting involved.
Sue McGinn from Coral Hill Holsteins said it's amazing to see so many young Kempsey locals involved in the dairy section.
"It's very unique to have so many kids getting involved," she said.
"They're really running it all, they've given up their time to get the cattle ready, even during school holidays and on the weekends and now they're leading them."
The Minister for Agriculture David Littleproud stopped in at the show today and presented a ribbon to one of Coral Hill Holstein's winners.
"The future of agriculture is bright and seeing so many young people here today involved in agriculture is great," Mr Littleproud said.
"Shows like this one can be a pathway to a career for these young people. We should be proud of the work that is done in regional areas."
The Kempsey Show continues this afternoon with a young farmers challenge, chainsaw post ripping competition, the official opening of the show, fireworks and the Kym Hagon Horsemanship Show.
