The School and Stud Beef Cattle section allowed Kempsey students to show off their leading skills in the ring while cattle from the Macleay were judged by Alastair McLaren from Wargundy Angus.
Mr McLaren said he was impressed with the quality of cattle on display.
"It's good to see these sorts of conditions with the animals, they've been prepared well," he said.
"The weather here hasn't been the best over the past year, so it's a cerdit to the area that the cattle are in the condition they are."

Director of Kempsey Show Society Stewart Witchard said the beef cattle section had a large number of entrants this year.
"It's a really big show this year. The sheds are full and there are cattle waiting to be brought in, it's great to see," he said.
"Alastair has been really impressed with the cattle which is a bonus."
The Kempsey Show continues this afternoon with the young farmers challenge final, Willawarrin Pony Club Musical Ride, Kym Hagon Horsemanship Show, dog jump competition and the ladies and blokes smash up derby.
