The kitchen project has been in the works for half a dozen years and aims to enrich the learning experience for students at the school.
"Six years ago an anonymous benefactor gifted the school with an amount of money to go towards a project that would enhance learning," Principal Paul Byrne said.
"Our previous Principal Andrew Kuchling consulted staff and the community as to how the money would best serve the school community and the idea of a kitchen for students to utilise was something everyone was passionate about."
The kitchen will allow students to learn cooking skills while also utilising their literacy and numeracy skills for recipes and measurements.
"It's a very important day for our school. This wouldn't have been possible if it wasn't for Andrew, who really pushed for this to happen for six years," Mr Byrne said.
The school is hoping to also hold parent cooking classes as well as lessons for the students.
"We really want there to be that community engagement and for everyone to be able to learn new skills."
The new kitchen facility was officially opened by Fred Kelly from the Kempsey Local Aboriginal Land Council, Principal of Kempsey South Public School Paul Byrne and former Principal Andrew Kuchling.
The school also held a Mother's Day morning tea that was organised by Karen Hall from Schools as Community Centres to celebrate the opening.
