Wear Orange Wednesday (WOW Day) is a chance for locals to say thank you to Kempsey's SES volunteers.
There are more than 9,000 dedicated SES volunteers in New South Wales alone who give their personal time to respond to emergencies across the state, 24 hours a day.
Greg Gill from the Kempsey SES said seeing the community get involved in WOW Day would be a wonderful sight.
"I would love to see people show appreciation for the local SES," he said.
"If you can't wear an orange shirt to work, it's as easy as pinning an orange ribbon to show your support."
The event is gaining traction across the country each year, but the local SES would like to see it become bigger in Kempsey.
"We would love to see more support here for the SES and this is an easy way for the community to get involved and say thank you."
Show your support on Wednesday May 22 by wearing something orange, take a photo and tag it with #ThankYouSES.
