According to the Rural Fire Service (RFS), the blaze has already torn through 220 hectares of country - and the smoke was visible from Frederickton and downtown Kempsey.
The location is officially listed as Seale Rd, and at the last update at 5pm, is on 'advice' level.
Advice level means: A fire has started. There is no immediate danger. Stay up to date in case the situation changes.
Other active fires are in our shire.
At Hat Head National Park, a hazard reduction is underway and being managed by the NSW National Park and Wildlife Service.
And at Dondingalong, the RFS is conducting a hazard reduction of a 12 hectare plot.
