The Kempsey Library received funding from the NSW Government and Telstra to provide tablet learning sessions for local aged care facilities.
The tech savvy program will be held weekly at Cedar Place with Kempsey Library marketing and seniors leader Mary Williams conducting the sessions.
Cedar Place residents are enjoying learning the new skills, which will help them keep in contact with family members and for entertaining purposes.
"I really enjoyed that, it was very interesting and I could spend hours looking for different things on the internet," Cedar Place resident Dot said.
"I like playing the game. It is something different for me to do during the day," Cedar Place resident Jenny added.
Cedar Place recreations activity officer Donna Gill said teaching the residents how to use the tablets has created a whole new world for them.
"They all still love to learn and now the residents can open the tablet, search in google and discover anything they want to know," Ms Gill said.
"There are also fun games to play and the Kindle App allows for the residents to read a large variety of books at a magnified size.
"We are also teaching the residents how to use Facetime so they will be able to see their family and friends on the screens and have a discussion - which is great for when they have grandchildren who are recently born or for birthday celebrations.
"Not only are the residents participating in the new Tech Savvy program their family and friends are coming along to participate in the activity with their family members.
"It has had a positive outcome and offers the residents of Cedar Place the chose to be interactive with the community and the larger world itself."
Cedar Place has free Wi-Fi for the residents to connect to.
