The teams gave it their all up against some tough opponents and the association is very proud of their never give up attitude and their efforts.
It was a very trying tournament for the Macleay side. They started with 11 players in the teams early in the year and ended up, through injury going into the state titles with only nine players and one of those, just returning from injury herself.
It was a tough titles with eight fit players backing up in all positions which saw the game plans thrown out the window.
All nine players that took the court were fantastic and gave all they had to the position they were playing.
Something to keep in mind, is that this was a team with all players being just 15 and 16-year-olds playing in the Under-17 competition in their first look at senior state netball since coming up from juniors, playing at the state age championships last year.
They will certainly be better next year for having the experience and hopefully travel with a full team of 10.
"All the girls did the Macleay proud with their never give up attitude" said Co Coach Georgie Murphy. "Charlie Brenton and Sarah Bulls were absolute stand outs playing all over the court from defence to mid court and even in shooting circle".
"I along with my co- coach Kay Iverach and Manager Jess Lawrence, were very proud of what the girls learnt and achieved over the weekend".
"Even though we didn't get the amount of wins on the board over the three days we would have liked, it's all part of their experience coming through the ranks as young players. They can all only continue to learn and grow from here," Murphy said.
The Macleay Netball Association would like to say a huge thank you all those that contributed and for their efforts over the weekend by representing the Macleay Valley.
Thank you to all the players, the associations badged umpires, Dana Dyet and Rebecca Cotter, Brad Keast for driving the bus down and around for the team and officials, coaches Georgie Murphy and Kay Iverach, manager Jess Lawrence, rep co-ordinator Alison Swan and all the parents and families who went down to support the girls and the team. You all did the Macleay proud and it's so greatly appreciated.
Netball resumes as normal this Saturday June 15 with both junior and senior teams back on the courts for the commencement of week 9 of competition.
