Sue Young from the club said the Port Macquarie regatta was held at Wauchope and members competed in a long-distance race on Saturday and timed-sprint events on Sunday, in which they were able to bag four third places and two seconds in a combination of women's, men's and mixed race events.
Upcoming regattas include Kempsey, Taree, Ballina, Mylestom, Grafton and Forster and members will take to the Macleay River to start training as preparation.
However, it's not just the thrill of the competition that draws members, Mrs Young said, the social benefits are a big draw card too.
"A number of new members have joined the club this year and have participated in these events, commenting on how much they enjoy local paddling, but also attending these away regattas and the social involvement it gives with other club members.
"While these regattas are held over a weekend many members opted to extend the Urunga regatta to make it mini holiday, staying in their caravan, tent or booking a cabin and getting together for a barbecue evening dinner in the on-site camp kitchen," Mrs Young said.
Dragons-On-The-Rocks are always keen to take on new members and teach the art of Dragon Boat paddling.
