Vinnie was a healthy and happy three-year-old before he had a prolonged seizure on February 28 while he was at daycare.
Vinnie and his family were flown to the John Hunter Children's Hospital where he was diagnosed with acute leukoencephalopathy with "restricted diffusion" - a condition so rare doctors believe it is the first time it has been seen in Australia.
Owners of Central Kempsey IGA, Rohan and Jodie Simpson, have organised the fundraiser to support Vinnie and his parents Cade and Nicole Fuller.
"We have three young kids around Vinnie's age and are in a position where we can help and make a difference," Rohan said.
"I grew up with Cade and his family and not three weeks before Vinnie's seizure, I was kicking a soccer ball around with him."
The raffle fundraiser will have over 20 prizes including food packages and household items. There will be something for everyone from a Darrell Lea pack to a lawn mower.
Raffle tickets will be sold from the Central Kempsey Plaza from Monday July 8 between 9.30am and 4.30pm each day until Friday July 12.
"We'll also be showcasing the prizes in the store throughout the week so locals can come in and have a look at what's on offer," Rohan said.
"If this makes just one person come down and buy a raffle ticket to support Vinnie and his family, it will make a difference."
Rohan and Jodie said the fundraiser is a great opportunity for locals and businesses to support a local family.
"They shouldn't have to go through this alone. We want to support them and make it comfortable for them when Vinnie comes home," Jodie said.
"It's lots of the little things like this that can make a big difference," Rohan added.
Over 15 local businesses have either donated prizes or money for the raffle.
"Everyone is coming together to support them."
Raffle tickets can be purchased from today at Central Kempsey Plaza between 9.30am and 4.30pm until Friday, when the raffle will be drawn. Tickets are one for $5 or three for $10.
"We're going to make it a kid themed day on Friday for Vinnie. There will be a clown and face painting for the kids to enjoy."
