Coach and player, Emma Tamblyn was happy with how her team performed, but she was also impressed, with the short-handed Port Macquarie side.

"They had eight players, it was our charity day, and even though they were under strength they still showed to support us," she said.

After the weekend, the defending champs are now firmly secured on the top of the ladder; however, Tamblyn, is wary of letting the players get overconfident.

"Every time we play a team they are different, people pick up new players, lose players and develop new skills, every team is continually improving," she said.

"There are three rounds to go, and we still have a long way to go until the end of the season. There are a couple of tough games coming up, and we will just keep working on our stuff and hopefully end the season unbeaten.

"We are definitely on track, and all our hard work throughout the season has been paying off, but we won't be taking any of our last games lightly.Our run to the finals last year wasn't easy, and this year won't be any different."

This weekend the competition is on hiatus, but the following weekend, the Rangers will play against rivals Kempsey Saints.

"We are home town rivals; it should be a tough game, it's never easy against them, they are the only side to draw with us this season," Tamblyn said.

Saturday was also the clubs annual charity day and they had games running from early morning until the evening in the hopes of raising funds for the Macleay Valley Hospice.
