Starting at 1pm at the CWA building on the Corner of Verge and John Sreet, Kempsey, the afternoon will be filled with food, stories and plenty of activities to keep everyone entertained. Gail Seery, the secretary of the Kemsey branch of CWA, insists that it won't be a formal affair.
"The afternoon tea is for the everyone in the community to come and see what CWA is all about; we are keeping the formalities and speeches to a minimum, we want this to be a fun-filled afternoon," she said.
"There will be tea, coffee, and deserts for everyone; plus a cake for our 90th birthday, there is no charge at all for the food, and everyone is welcome.
"A silent auction will be running throughout the afternoon as well, people will be able to bid on teapots and tea cosies, it's a bit of fun, and all funds raised will go to drought relief for our farmers."
While the event won't be formal in nature, there will be seral guest speakers, and displays showcasing Kempsey CWA through the years.
"There will be a guest speaker from Papua New Guinea, because that is our country of study this year, and speakers from CWA who will tell stories and history about our organisation," Gail said.
"On display will be of old photos, and a few other items from our history, including the meeting minutes book from the very first meeting of CWA in Kempsey."
Kempsey CWA meets every second Friday of the month at their building in Kempsey, on the Corner of Verge and John Sreet. Anybody looking to join, or for more information about the 90th birthday party can contact secretary Gail Seery on 6562-3194.
