Very proud mum Beverley Ahearn informed the Argus that her girl started playing from the tender age of 7, but a twist of fate saw her quickly discover she had a knack for one particular position.
"She started at the Kempsey Saints, one day they just threw her into the goalie position, and she loved it, she can play on the field as well, but her preferred position is goalkeeper," she said.
"This weekend she will travel down to the 2019 National Youth Championships, where she will spend the weekend training, followed by five days of playing."

To reach this point has been a long journey for Maddison, after shaking off several injuries, she had to compete at a trial in February and April of this year to secure her spot in the Northern NSW Women's Federation team.
"She is flat out all the time, training three days a week, two of those are premier league sessions," Beverley said.
"Last year she was selected for State, and she has also competed in the Football Mid North Coast's Under-14s representative side.
"I'm not sure what she will do next; this might open some great opportunities to take football further, we are just waiting to see."
