The concrete walkway now stretches from the South West Rocks Surf Club, past the Spirit Bench and main viewing terrace toward Horseshoe Bay Beach.
Council's director of operations and planning, Robert Fish, said the coastal walkway follows the natural flow of the landscape of Monument Point and offers multiple viewing points along the scenic headland.
Funded by a $357,000 grant under the NSW Government's Stronger Country Communities Fund and a council contribution, the project has been underway since early March.
"The walkway is progressing well with the pathway on track for completion by mid to late August," Mr Fish said.
"We will then add the finishing touches to the project with the installation of the street furniture, gardens, retaining walls and stonework features."
To improve the connectivity of the site, two accessible car parking spaces have been created under the avenue of Norfolk Pines near the site's entry. This will enable greater wheelchair accessibility from the car park to the pathway and picnic area.
Final designs for the Horseshoe Bay Reserve Masterplan have been developed incorporating community feedback and a report will be presented to council at its August 20 meeting.
The Masterplan is a long-term strategic planning document to guide the overall vision and use of the Horseshoe Bay Reserve space.
It will provide council, business, government stakeholders and the community the opportunity to consider a range of issues affecting the Horseshoe Bay Reserve such as infrastructure and recreational spaces usage now and into the future.
