The Mustangs have a bye for the final regular season game and sit on equal competition points with the Old Bar Pirates.
Macleay Valley are ahead in the for and against column by 60-points and will lock up the minor premiership if the Pirates win by 59-points or less, or suffer a defeat.
The chances of a Pirates white wash are slim, as they face off with the Port City Breakers, who are in third-position on the ladder.
Mustangs Under-18.5s coach Reuben Jones claims it has been a team effort from the side this season.
"We are fortunate to have a strong side across the park. The forward pack is big, mobile and are great at getting away offloads," Jones told the Argus.
"And the backline are always looking to pounce and are very threatening in attack."
Jones claims the Mustangs looked "unbeatable" at the start of the season but have received a reality check in recent weeks.
"I think the players got a bit ahead of themselves. We started the season on fire but have hit a bit of a slump," Jones said.
"I hope the couple of losses have been a bit of a wake up call and now we can return to full focus ahead of the finals."
If the Mustangs are to obtain the minor premiership, they will have a bye for the first week of the finals which means they won't take the field for three weeks.
Jones is hopeful the Mustangs' first grade side will also secure the minor premiership with a win over the Bulls this Saturday and the two sides will train together.
"If first grade also have a week off, we will definitely try and get the two sides together on the weekend and have a big training session together," Jones said.
"It will be important to maintain a high intencity at training with a few weeks off from footy."
A Mustangs win in first grade will result in the club hosting the major semi-final at Verge St Oval on Sunday August 11.
