Five out of control bush fires are burning around Kempsey this afternoon.
Kempsey Rural Fire Service are currently battling the blazes but the extremely windy conditions are making the task increasingly challenging.
A 56-hectare fire at Turner's Flat is out of control and has recently jumped Willi Willi Rd and is heading in an easterly direction towards Kempsey.
Crews are being assisted by bulldozers to build containment lines. Residents are informed to enact their bush fire survival plan.
The fire is threatening nearby homes.
Another out of control blaze is on Yammacoona Way, Dondingalong.
The Turner's Flat and Yammacoona blazes are listed at a 'Watch and Act' alert level.
Another bushfire in Dondingalong, which is on Ballengara Rd and is 66 hectares, is being controlled.
Three more fires, two near Crescent Head and one at Wittitrin, are out of control but are at an 'Advice' alert level and currently aren't threatening any properties.
