The 18-year-old also admits he will most likely be bragging about it for a long time too.
The Mustangs Under-18.5s were trailing 14-10 with under a minute left in the grand final qualifier when Thompson received the ball 10m out from the Pirates line.
The forward used his mobility to step three defenders and jot the ball down to level the scores before captain Kaine Parkinson slotted the conversion in gale force winds.
Thompson claims he will cherish the play forever.
"It was the best feeling I have ever felt in my life," Thompson told the Argus.
"Once I got the ball, I saw the defence was sliding across in front of me so I stepped off my left foot and dove under them and jotted the ball down.
"It was pretty incredible. I haven't done that before and I know I will think about it for a long time. I won't let anyone forget about it that's for sure."
Celebrating along side his teammates and booking a grand final appearance was special for Thompson.
"All my teammates swamped me, it was crazy," he said.
Thompson plans to break a streak of three grand final defeats, as he suffered losses for the Under-16s and Under-16.5s Kempsey Dragons sides and also the Under-18.5s Mustangs, when they take on the Pirates this Sunday.

The victory will go a long way to claiming redemption, while Thompson also admits the victory will be made all the more sweeter by experiencing it with his younger brother.
"My younger brother Ethan is also in the team and it would mean a lot to me to win with him," he said.
"Not many people can say they won an 18s grand final next to their brother."
The 17-year-old Ethan will line up in the dummy half position this Sunday.
