Staff and students got behind the celebration and became literary icons for the day.
Librarian at Crescent Head Public School, Wendy Vermeulen, said the day was all about celebrating books and encouraging the students to read.
"This year's theme is 'reading is my superpower' that's why we had a lot of students dressing up as superheros. But Book Week is all about encouraging students to read," she said.
"We have 180 students who got involved and dressed up as well as the teachers and staff."
Following the parade, students read their favourite book to a family member, friend or member of the public.
