A former prison officer charged with misconduct in public office pleaded guilty to the charge in Kempsey Local Court yesterday.
The onetime officer admitted she did engage in a secret relationship with an inmate at the Mid North Coast Correctional Centre at Aldavilla but disputes the relationship was sexual.
The defendant is accused of becoming too close to the inmate and also disclosing information about the whereabouts of a second inmate, who was later attacked.
She will next appear in Port Macquarie District Court on December 2 for sentencing.
