Macleay residents would be well acquainted with the fires that have recently ravaged areas around the town, but what they might not know are the men who risked their lives to help fight the blazes.
Accompanied by Year Six teacher, and Dean of Learning Kastle Mainey, Max Phelps, Rohan Parlevliet, Anabelle Stillman and Alyssa Crossman hand-delivered their gift to Station Commander Tony Hackenberg.
"We have been getting a lot of different foods brought in by locals, we really appreciate it, it's been flat out the last few weeks," he said.

The idea for the thoughtful gesture began after staff from Kempsey Adventist School witnessed some of the devastation caused by the fires first hand.
"Many of our staff were affected by the fires, either directly or indirectly, and we came up with this idea to show our appreciation," Ms Mainey said.
"We started by having the students write thank you cards, and you can't give just cards, so we decided to bring along some chocolates as well.
"It's good for the kids to understand these people put their lives on the line for us."
While the immediate fire danger has passed, Commander Hackenberg cautions everyone to stay vigilant.
"Everyone needs to remain vigilant; it's still very dry. If you see an unattended fire, or smoke, get the call in early, it doesn't matter how small the fire, call 000," he said.
