Kempsey Police are investigating an alleged on-field assault during the Macleay Valley Rangers and Port Saints semi-final on Saturday, August 31.

Police received a report that a fight broke out in the final minutes of the semi-final between the two Premier League clubs.
The match was played at Optus Park in Dangar Street, West Kempsey.

It is alleged that immediately following the tackle of a Macleay Valley Rangers player, a fight broke out between the player and two members of Port Saints Football Club which was subsequently stopped by other players intervening.
One of the Port Saints Football Club players was treated at Kempsey Hospital after suffering a concussion. The matter was reported to Police.
Kempsey Police are requesting anyone who witnessed or has video footage of the incident to contact Kempsey Police on 65616199 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
