On September 20 from 12.30pm to 2.30pm, students from local schools are hosting a Climate Event at Services Club Park to raise awareness for the current climate emergency that we are facing.
Students, community and businesses from all around Kempsey are invited to join an event aimed at sparking action on climate change, to encourage renewables and create a more sustainable future for everyone.
This event on September 20 will coincide with the wider School Strike for Climate movement. These strikes have been occurring internationally since it's initiation by Greta Thunberg in 2018, which included 150 000 school students striking at the last event in March and are hoping for 300 000 this time around.
It will be three days before the UN summit in New York where world leaders will discuss this important issue. We want to show them that students and their communities care about their future and are demanding action!
There will be live performances from the students and members of the community each with their own outlook on how we can make a positive difference locally and throughout the world.
Everyone is invited to attend because we want to make the biggest impact possible.
