Crescent Head Country Club generously donated $5000 towards Kempsey Crescent Head Nippers as part of the 2018 Club Grants program. They have also promised another $5000 towards Nippers equipment this season.

"We are proud to be supporting local kids in our local community and to help them gain greater confidence in the surf," Crescent Head Country Club acting secretary manager Michael Baker said.

"Living so close to one of the most famous surf beaches in Australia, it's important for local kids to be aware of surf conditions and how to stay safe in the water."

The funding has been used to provide high visibility vests for the under 6 and 7 age groups to help them be identified easier on the beach and for a range of competition and training boards.

"We provide a fun and interactive Nippers Program each Sunday where kids are encouraged to step outside of their comfort zone in a controlled environment," Nippers president Steve Pellen said.

"Our kids get the opportunity to have fun, learn new skills, understand surf conditions and most importantly learn not to panic in the surf."

The Kempsey Crescent Head Nippers has seen numbers increase to near record levels since the opening of the new building. This funding goes a long way to keeping the membership fees as low as possible and allows kids to utilise new equipment.

"We are really happy to be partnering with the Crescent Head Country Club to be providing our local kids the opportunity to have fun, improve their skills and learn how to stay safe in the surf," Pellen said.

Nippers swim proficiencies and registrations will be held at the Crescent Head Swimming Pool, midday on September 22 and 29 and Kempsey Swimming Pool on Saturday September 28 from 10am.

The season starts Sunday October 20 from 9.30am.
