An evacuation centre for people trying to escape the fire has been set up at the Dorrigo Showground, where people are being fed and clothed.
Firefighters are continuing to work around the clock with little sleep, and unfortunately, there doesn't appear to be any relief in sight.

While this tragedy is far removed from the Macleay, any help would be much appreciated by the evacuees. There is a daily list of what is needed:
- Hay for animals is desperately needed. Beaumonts Dorrigo has offered to supply & deliver free, $29.50 bale for lucerne hay - 6657 2389
- Snack items
- Trail mix, etc
- Snap lock bags for kids
- Colouring-in paper
- Berocca or Arbonne essentials Fizz sticks
- Lip balm/chap sticks
- Soft drinks/Powerade
- Potatoes and onions
- Baked food for firefighters
The response so far has been amazing, with the centre overwhelmed with clothes yesterday after a similar call-out.
Any donated items can be left at the Food Hub, 91 Wallace St, Macksville - it is staffed on Wednesday and Thursday, otherwise call 0414-628-739 to arrange drop-off.
